The Importance of Interactive Multimedia Learning Production for Self-Paced Training
In corporate self-paced training, producing interactive multimedia learning now helps create an active and impactful learning process. Delivering employee training programs through video offers high flexibility without being tied to a rigid schedule.
However, passive learning media is often not enough to keep participants consistently engaged.
Even though training videos already combine visuals and animation that capture the essence of the topic at hand, the learning process ultimately remains passive. With little active involvement, some participants may fail to absorb the material effectively. This is where interactive multimedia comes in.
By combining various media elements, including interactive components, learners are encouraged to learn more actively, which helps hold their attention and improve their comprehension.
The interactive elements used can be chosen to fit the needs and objectives of the training. If learners are expected to think more critically about a case study, they can be presented with a story containing decision points, questions, and the like. If the goal is simply to help learners remember the material well, mini games such as quizzes and drag-and-drop activities can be tried instead.
Monki Nongki Highlight: A Session on Interactive Multimedia
After holding a micro-learning video editing workshop in November, on December 14th Monkey Melody invited everyone to learn about interactive multimedia for learning. The hope was that, after this session, participants would understand what interactive multimedia is, its various applications and tools, and how training materials are turned into simple interactive multimedia output.

First, Kak Mandy, Monkey Melody's Creative & Tech Lead, gave a presentation on the basics of multimedia and examples of interactive multimedia elements in learning, such as gamification, simulation, and interactive video. Each of these examples has been applied by Monkey Melody across various projects.

Kak Mandy went on to show how these elements have been applied in Monkey Melody's collaborations with clients such as Erlangga, DMI, and KPK, emphasizing that the elements are always combined according to each project's specific needs.
Participants were then invited to try out H5P. H5P is an open-source platform that helps create, share, and use interactive quiz, presentation, interactive video, and educational game content without requiring deep programming skills. Despite its simplicity, the platform offers many interactivity formats of varying complexity and can be easily deployed within a company's LMS.

After covering several types of content that can be built with H5P, Kak Mandy gave a short demonstration of the workflow for building interactive multimedia, from script to final output, sketching out the flow while showing the H5P interface for a clearer picture.
We hope participants of this session came away with a better understanding of interactive multimedia and how to implement H5P in the learning process.
