Using Mini Games in Interactive Learning Videos

Interactive learning videos have become a strategic solution for turning passive training into something more dynamic and measurable.

Interactive elements in learning can help participants engage more actively in the learning process. Elements such as quizzes, simulations, and other mini games can help turn passive learning into something more dynamic.

According to a 2024 survey by Kaltura, quizzes and chat are the most frequently used tools in digital activities at educational institutions. Beyond these, there are of course many other interactive elements that can be applied to e-learning.

With these considerations in mind, Monkey Melody experiments extensively with interactivity to enhance the quality of the learning experience, beyond simply providing content in video form. One type of interactivity we use is implementing mini games through H5P to strengthen learners' comprehension.

Using Mini Games in a Project with Daya Dimensi Indonesia

Working with Daya Dimensi Indonesia, Monkey Melody had the opportunity to build a series of interactive learning multimedia aimed at helping nurses learn to communicate with patients and colleagues in English. We decided to use a drag-and-drop mini game format because it is simple and well-suited to language learning.

Beyond the mini game, to help participants stay engaged and absorb the material well, we combined several multimedia elements such as a game map and narrated video. This combination of elements was designed to create an engaging learning experience that boosts retention and comprehension.

As a result, learners don't just learn the theory, they're also encouraged to practice the communication skills they're learning. The drag-and-drop format was chosen for its simplicity and its fit with the learning objective, which required participants to connect the concepts they were learning quickly and effectively.

Because the terminology to be learned is technical in nature, a format that is too complex risks overwhelming learners. This simpler format can also be applied and iterated on easily whenever specific needs arise.

Of course, interactivity isn't limited to quiz formats like drag-and-drop. Monkey Melody can apply a wide range of interactive elements using H5P in learning multimedia, tailored to each company's needs and objectives. H5P offers many formats, from text-based to question-based, image-based, and more.

H5P can also be integrated with various learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle, WordPress, and Drupal, making content distribution easier. For corporate training needs, H5P is very easy to implement since it can be embedded directly within an LMS.

Monkey Melody understands that every company faces different challenges and goals.

That's why we offer a tailored approach to ensure every video we produce achieves the intended training objective. Ready to transform your company's training materials into effective learning videos or interactive videos?
